Frequently Asked Questions

If you are interested in becoming a client, please read the FAQ below and then fill out my inquiry form next.

Yes! Although this practice is secular, I welcome the unique contributions that you bring in terms of your education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity/expression, nation of origin, age, color, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.

No, I am not in network with any insurance plan due to the constraints insurance dictates. Upon request, I may be able to provide a billing summary to submit to your insurance for clients doing individual therapy. A licensed therapist can only provide this information for couples or family therapy if one member has a pre-existing mental health diagnosis as insurance companies do not cover “relationship problems” in and of itself. You will always have to check your benefits about reimbursement.

Fees vary depending on the service (individual, couples, etc.). My fees for regular sessions range from $300 – $500 depending upon they type of session. If you need a lower fee option, let me know as there are several Florida licensed and pre-licensed clinicians I provide receiving regular clinical supervision and consultation for who I can refer to you (fees average $125 – $250).  Cash, check, or credit cards, including HSA cards are accepted as payment methods.

Due to having a busy caseload, a waitlist for appointments, and other time constraints, I no longer offer free consultations unless you request one for booking a 2-day intensive. Rest assure that you will get undivided and professional attention and time to answer any questions at your appointment.

Dr. Marni can also provide telehealth for Florida residents as well as those in Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Maryland.

Hours by appointment only on Tuesday – Thursdays 9AM – 5PM. Timeliness of scheduling the initial session varies and there is often a waitlist and a wait time (2 – 3 months average) for new appointments. Current availability and wait times fluctuate so they are provided at the time you reach out.

I’m frequently looking to create “training tapes” — meaning taping therapy sessions to use as a teaching tool for therapists learning to become competent therapists. If you are willing to be taped for this purpose, let me know and if there is a current need, you will be prioritized for the first open slot available.

Yes, both online and in-office (in Boca Raton) sessions are options. Local clients must be seen in the office for face-to-face sessions. If you are not local (45+ minutes from the office), telehealth is an option. Couples must be able to be in the same physical location for telehealth sessions unless there are specialized circumstances that prevent this option.

Individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes, couples therapy sessions are booked as either 55 minutes or 85 minutes, and family sessions are 75 minutes. I also offer 2-day couple therapy intensives and couples therapy “jumpstart” sessions (1/2 day) per request and availability. This is a “boutique” practice that offers flexibility and individualized treatment plans based on your needs, preferences, and what is clinically recommended.

The first session(s) are part of a thorough assessment process. This is to get background, history, presenting problems as well as an opportunity to discuss the treatment plan and process. An assessment is critically important for context and treatment planning. If there are any contraindications to therapy, or another type of treatment is recommended, you will be advised of this as well.

If you are unsure, I generally tell potential clients to start as a couple if there are relationship problems. If after the assessment process it’s determined that one or both of you needs individual therapy (or some other type of service), I will discuss this, explain the reasons, and provide an appropriate referral.

Because I’m often tied up most of the day with appointments, I’m able to respond quickest (usually within a few hours) via email to the inquiry form below. Phone inquiries are returned within 2 – 3 business days. All potential new clients should reach out using the inquiry form below.

I’m very appreciative of mental health and other medical or legal professionals who refer clients. In circumstances requiring it, I value collaboration (with a client authorization) and a team approach.  Please instruct your client(s) to add you as a referral source on the inquiry form.
